Van Hollen describes a dramatic meeting with Abrego García in El Salvador when he returned to us

Senator Chris Van Hollen pointed to President Donald Trump and the Government of El Salvador for his treatment of Kilmar Abrego García, the migrant that the government said in the Court was erroneously deported to El Salvador, and for trying to deviate from the notion that the United States government is rejecting the judicial orders to “facilitate” its return to the United States to the United States to the United States to the United States to the United States

The Maryland Democrat joined the wife and mother and other followers of Abrego García at Washington Dulles International Airport on Friday and talked about her three -day visit, providing more details about the one -hour conversation she had with Abrego García.

Van Hollen said the Trump administration is lying on the case in an attempt to distract the questions about whether Abrego García’s rights were violated by mentioning the violence of the gangs.

“This case is not a single man. It is about protecting the constitutional rights of all those residing in the United States of America,” he said.

Abrego García opens on the conditions

Van Hollen traveled to El Salvador on Wednesday to find an audience with Abrego García, who had been living in Maryland for years before his arrest and deportation, and initially rejected access to the high security CECT prison, where he was believed to be held.

The senator said he was about to leave the country on Thursday, but received a message from the United States embassy that the Government of El Salvador would allow him to meet with Abrego García. The deporte was taken to the Hotel del Senator.

Van Hollen revealed during the press conference that Abrego García told him during his meeting that he was transferred from Cecot to another installation that was further.

“We all thought I was in Cecot, which I didn’t know until I met him,” he said.

Abrego García described being handcuffed, chained and put in airplanes with other migrants, pointing out that they could not see where they were going, according to the senator. Van Hollen added that Abrego García was arrested in a cell with 25 other people and fearful of other prisoners who mocked him.

The senator said Abrego García told him that he was transported to his current installation nine days ago.

“He said the conditions are better, but said that despite the best conditions, he still does not have access to the news of the outside world and there is no capacity to communicate with the outside world,” said Van Hollen.

Van Hollen was the first person with whom Abrego García had spoken from the United States since his arrest and deportation of March, and the senator said

“He said that thinking of you, members of his family, is what gave him strength,” said the senator.

The senator says that El Salvador officials planted drinks at the table

Van Hollen, however, claimed that the meeting was organized in questionable circumstances.

At first, the senator said that the Government of El Salvador tried to have the meeting next to the pool, but that made them take it inside a dining room. During the meeting, Van Hollen and Abrego García had glasses of water and a cup of coffee on their tables.

Van Hollen published a photo with glasses and coffee cups in their social media pages.

The senator said at a time during the meeting, the officials put vessels on the table that seemed to have liquid inside with salt or sugar tires at the top.

The glass in front of Abrego García had less liquid than the other glass, according to Van Hollen.

“They tried to seem, I guess, he drank,” said the senator.

The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, published a photo in X on Thursday night with both sitting with the glasses.

Van Hollen insisted that neither he nor Abrego Garcia played those glasses and said it was clear that they were not based on the photo.

“They made a mistake,” he said about government officials. “If you leave one of those glasses, something that was, salt or sugar, they would disappear. You would see a gap. There is no gap. No one drank anything.”

The Government of El Salvador has not commented on the senator’s claim.

‘Put in court or shut up’

Van Hollen pointed to the president for criticizing him earlier in the day for the visit.

Trump has maintained the statements, without providing evidence in the Court, that Abrego García is a violent member of the MS-13.

“They have no interest in that prisoner,” Trump said about the defenders and supporters of the deporte. “The history of that prisoner is incredibly bad.

“This is the man that Democrats want us to fly from El Salvador to be a happily installed member of the American family, isn’t it a shame?” The president added.

Van Hollen repeated that Trump is lying on the case and trying to change the story of being about the rights of due process of Abrego García to the accusations of membership and violence of gang.

“Then, the Trump administration effort to try to combine these two problems goes to the heart of what I was talking about: his effort to change the subject,” said Van Hollen.

The White House mentioned the murder of Maryland’s wife, Rachel Morin, in response to Van Hollen’s trip to El Salvador. Victor Martínez-Hernández, the man convicted in the murder earlier this week, was a migrant from El Salvador who lived in the United States without legal status.

Van Hollen said Friday he feels for the Morin family and that he is happy that the courts condemned Martínez-Hernández, but reiterated that Trump is trying to distract his constitutional duty.

“The reason we have courts of justice is to punish the culprits, but also to ensure that those who have not committed crimes are not declared guilty and arbitrarily detained,” said the senator.

Van Hollen emphasized that the Supreme Court ordered the Government to facilitate the return of Abrego García and that none of the accusations about the membership of the Deported Gang has been made in the Court.

“In other words, place it in the court or shut up,” he said.

The senator said that other members of the Congress will make trips to El Salvador to reach the bottom of deportations.

“I won’t be the last,” he said. “El Salvador is making a big mistake. The president of El Salvador made a big mistake when being complicit in this illegal scheme.”
