Trump Rates live updates: Sec. Besent says that ABC offers could come ‘very fast’

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Lin Jian, told journalists on Tuesday that the last tariff save Donald Trump “does not reflect the will to have a serious dialogue.”

When asked if Beijing would negotiate with Washington in an attempt to tear down American tariffs, now potentially increasing to 104% if Trump imposes additional 50% measures threatened on Monday, Lin said: “If the United States really wants to speak, you should adopt an attitude of equality, respect and reciprocity.”

“If the United States ignores the interests of the two countries and the international community and insists on fighting a tariff war and a commercial war, China will definitely accompany it until the end,” Lin added, as cited by the state media of CCTV of China.

Earlier on Tuesday, Lin said there could be no “winner in the Trade war and the tariff war, and there is no way out of protectionism.”

“The pressure, threats and blackmail are not the correct way to deal with China,” Lin continued. “China will take the necessary measures to resolutely safeguard their legitimate rights and interests.”
