Third woman arrested for allegedly helping the getaway of New Orleans inmates still in general

A Slidell woman was arrested and accused of helping a fugitive who is still free of the huge Jailbreak of New Orleans Elde Capture, Louisiana State Police said.

Connie Weeden, 59, was arrested in Slidell and hired at the correctional center of the Parish of St. Tammany on Thursday. In addition to the employees of the prison, he is the third person arrested for helping the inmates escaped from the Orleans Justice Center.

Weeden faces a serious crime of accessories after allegedly helping Jermaine Donald, one of the five escapes that are still fleeing.

“Weeden was in contact by phone before and after the escape,” LSP officials said in a statement. “The researchers determined that after the escape, she provided him with Donald effective through a cell phone application.”

Donald remains in general, along with four others who left the Orleans Justice Center on May 16. The authorities have recovered five of the 10 originals that escaped.

The officials responsible for enforcing the law warned that helping fugitives will have serious consequences. “Those who choose to help or hide these people violate the law and will be responsible,” said the State Police. “When houseing the fugitives threatens the security of our communities and will not be tolerated.”

According to Louisiana’s law, a condemnation for accessory after the fact entails a fine of up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $ 500, or both.

The LSP announced Wednesday that Cortnie Harris, 32, and Corvanntay Baptiste, 38, were arrested and accused of serious crimes of being accessories after the fact. Both were reserved in the detention center of the platelet parish, authorities said.

Earlier on Thursday, the district prosecutor of the Parish of Orleans issued citations to the Sheriff of the Orleans parish, Susan Hutson, and other members of the OPSO personnel as part of an ongoing investigation into the escape of the inmates.

The order demanded access to emails, text messages, internal messages, from or to Hutson and other OPSO contractors, including those of Sterling Williams, the maintenance worker of the prison that was arrested in relation to the Jailbreak.

Williams, a 33 -year -old maintenance worker at the Justice Center of the Parish of Orleans, was arrested and admitted to jail on Tuesday morning, according to the attorney general of Louisiana, Liz Murrill.

Williams allegedly turned off the water to a bath to help clean the way for inmates to escape, the fountains said. The prisoners, including three accused of second degree murder and remain in the race, could leave after starting the bathroom from their hinges.

Four other prison employees have been suspended in this investigation.
